Sunday Liturgy:  9 p.m. may not be the most familiar time to gather for the Eucharist on a Sunday, but it works well here on campus as students return from weekend travels. All are welcome, regardless of faith or denomination, so invite your friends and share a rich treasure with them. Mass is usually conducted in St. Dominic Chapel.

There are two Catholic churches very close to campus. St. Joseph Catholic Church is a half mile away and St. Mary’s Catholic Church within a mile. Whatever your denomination, contact the Lenawee Churches web link for times, locations and phone number contacts. Campus ministers will gladly assist you in making contact and even in getting help with transportation if you need it.

Worship Committee: We would love your creative input in planning themes, music ideas and décor for our Sunday liturgies as well as for the seasons of Advent, Lent and Easter. The committee also helps plan the four special Sunday liturgies that conclude this list.

Liturgical Ministries (Musicians, Readers, etc.): Would you like to be a reader, an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, a singer, a musician or a sacristan?  We would love your help. 

Liturgical Ministry Training: Past experience at your home parish is a great asset here, but even if you’ve never been a reader or extraordinary minister of the Eucharist we will provide training, proper preparation and official installation.

Sacramental Preparation: Interested in Baptism, First Eucharist and/or Confirmation? Each year students have plugged into the “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults” at nearby parishes. With enough campus interest we will conduct our own RCIA program. Marriage preparation typically takes place through your parish.

Marriage Preparation: Contact Father Tom Helfrich if you hear wedding bells in the foreseeable future. Marriage preparation typically takes place through your parish, but each of the campus ministers has some wisdom to bring as you prepare for this sacramental life commitment.

Memorial Mass: Each year in November, the month traditionally dedicated to prayer remembrance of our deceased friends and loved ones, we focus a Sunday night liturgy on the members of our Siena Heights community who have died in the past year. We mention each by name, graced by the presence of their family members.

Alumni Mass: During Homecoming Weekend, alumni return to campus, joined by families of current students for an annual reunion that is delightful and energizing. One of the highlights of the weekend is a special Alumni Mass.

Saints Mass: Who ever thought it could be so easy to become a Saint? Just enroll at Siena Heights, and bingo, you're instantly a Saint. Like that football team in New Orleans, our athletic teams claim the name Saints. On the Sunday closest to Nov. 1, the feast of All Saints, our athletic teams gather in force at the 9 p.m. Sunday liturgy to both celebrate and witness to what it means to be a Saint both on and off the field. The personal witness messages of various athletes are an annual inspiration to us all.

Christmas Candlelight Mass: The academic year is not exactly in perfect sync with the liturgical year. The Sunday before first semester exams is our last Mass before Christmas. It falls during Advent. But since this is our final celebration of the Eucharist before the Nativity, that night’s liturgy, set in a halo of candlelight, includes a pre-celebration of Christmas. You sure won’t want to miss this one.

Baccalaureate Mass: The morning of commencement we gather for this special celebration of the Eucharist honoring those who will soon be awarded degrees. The gathering is especially energized by the presence of many family members and friends of those graduating.
