The mission of Siena Heights, a Catholic university founded and sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, is to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all.
In light of the mission of Siena Heights University, the demographics of Adrian, and the new academic pursuits, Student Life hopes to create an ally for students of color, as well as opportunities for all students and staff to learn and experience cultures different from their own.
The purpose of the Office of Intercultural Affairs is threefold
- to assist in the cultural competency of all Siena Heights University students
- to serve students of color with intention
- to bring greater alignment between the mission of Siena Heights University and a commitment to diversity
All students regardless of background are encouraged to utilize the service provided by the office.
As an “intercultural” office, it is imperative to create many resources that include diversity of faith, sexual orientation, and gender in addition to race and nationality as these are what we as communities incorporate in how we identify.
