5/1/2009-Saints Eliminate Tech/Eliminated by Aquinas

The Saints were able to eliminate the Indiana Tech Warriors, 4-2, with a Jessica Singletary three-run homerun.  Siena Heights was down 2-1 going into the top of the seventh inning when Singletary came season and career homerun mark for Singletary.

The fireworks in the 7th inning came with two outs.  Brittany Rhodes led off with an infield base hit.  Senior Angela Edward came in with a pinch hit single.  That was followed by Singletary’s homerun.  Dani Bailey then had a clean bottom of the seventh to win the game.

Bailey ended up picking up her 7th win of the season as she threw the complete game.  She allowed just one earned run on five hits and she struck out five.  Singletary ended up going 2-for-4 with three RBI and her record tying homerun.  Rhodes went 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI while Mariah Welke went 2-for-3 with a double.

The Saints then went onto another elimination game against Aquinas.  This time the Siena Heights heroics did not come and they fell to 7-3, therefore, ending their season.  Chelsea Slovinski led the Saints charge going 1-for-4  with two RBI.

Siena Heights opened the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning.  However, Aquinas got five runs in the second inning en route to their 7-3.  Siena Heights added single runs in the third and seventh innings.  Tawny McSweeney took the complete game loss on the mound.  She allowed eight hits, five earned runs and struck out four.  Slovinski went 1-for-4 with two RBI, while Angela Edward went 1-for-2 with two runs scored.  Also hitting well was Amanda Flannery with a perfect 2-for-2 performance at the plate.
