The Siena Heights Women’s Volleyball Team lost to Davenport in four games. After winning the first game, the Saints fell in the next three for the loss.
In the first game, the Saints came out and took an 11-3 lead early. As the game progressed, the Panthers fought their way back into the game, but the Saints managed to hold on for a 25-23 win and a 1-0 lead in the match. In the second game, a run of nine straight points by Davenport put the game well out of reach with the Saints
losing by a score of 25-11. In the third game, the Saints battled back and forth for a little while with each team having small runs of points. However, Davenport pulled away in the second half of the game to win the third game by a score of 25-15. In the third game, the Saints once again stayed close early, but Davenport finished them off with a 25-14 win. The story of the night was the Saints hitting percentage. After the first game, the Saints were hitting better than 28% and at the end of the night, the Saints were hitting only 6.3% overall.
Leading the way for the Saints was Lauren Kurtz with eight kills. Melissa Hall led the team with 27 assists and 11 digs. Abbie Stein led the team with two aces while Kurtz led the team with three assisted blocks.
With the loss, the Saints fall to 7-20 overall and 2-9 in the WHAC. They will return to action on Friday when they travel to Rochester College. The Saints final home match will come on Tuesday when they host Cornerstone at 7:00 pm.
