Siena Heights University is promising more than $500,000 in financial aid to qualified Lenawee Christian School students after a partnership agreement was signed between the two institutions.
“Like Siena Heights, Lenawee Christian is an outstanding Christ-centered private institution, and many of their graduates have attended Siena Heights,” said SHU President Sister Peg Albert, OP, PhD. “I am pleased to deepen our relationship with Lenawee Christian in a more formal way.”
“We are pleased our Lenawee Christian School graduates will have an even greater opportunity to attend Sienna Heights with this scholarship program,” said Head of School for Lenawee Christian School Ron Evans. “Siena provides the kind of education, opportunities and spiritual environment that will allow LCS graduates to be successful in college and after graduation.”
Starting with the 2009 graduating class, Lenawee Christian students who attend Siena Heights on a full-time basis following their high school graduation are eligible for several designated scholarships, including two Trustee Scholarships ($10,000 per student per academic year), five Presidential Scholarships ($8,500) and five Dean’s Scholarships ($6,000), five Siena Honor Scholarships ($4,000) and up to five Siena Catholic Parish Grants ($3,000) for qualified students attending directly from Lenawee Christian. For students who do not qualify for an above listed merit scholarships, a guaranteed minimum amount of $5,000 in Siena Heights University institutional financial aid for any qualified (regular admission criteria) LCS graduate. The amount is inclusive of athletic grants. The partnership agreement will run until Sept. 1, 2013.
“We have been talking with Lenawee Christian about a partnership for some time, and are pleased to be able to finalize this agreement,” said SHU Vice President of Enrollment Management C. Patrick Palmer. “This is yet another opportunity to strengthen and grow our community partnerships. I hope Lenawee Christian graduates will use this opportunity to take a good look at what Siena Heights University has to offer.”
There will also be professional development opportunities for Lenawee Christian faculty and staff, such as on-site continuing educational courses, workshops and presentations covering a wide variety of academic and other educational interests. Special admission consideration will also be made for qualified Lenawee Christian School students who are part of a dual enrollment program. Siena Heights will also offer priority response for LCS students in regard to admissions decisions, residence hall accommodations, financial aid and other student support services.
“Lenawee Christian School recognizes the value of Siena Heights,” Evans said. “We have teaching staff who are Siena graduates as well as a multiple-term board member who is a key professor there. We have LCS graduates who are currently students at Siena, and we know this scholarship program will allow many LCS students to attend there in the future.”
