Siena Heights University is offering a cross-cultural study tour to Ghana, West Africa, from Nov. 19-28, 2009.
The tour will offer participants the opportunity to learn about Ghana, its people, its challenges and its culture. Participants will visit three of Ghana’s 10 regions, with the tour ending in the capital city of Accra.
“These kind of experiences help prepare participants to develop and enhance their knowledge of the world,” said SHU Director of International Studies Dr. Jennifer Hanson. “We encourage members of the community to join our students, faculty and staff on this study tour.”
The tour includes volunteer work in areas such as nursing, education, orphanages, journalism, law, sports and fitness, computers, conservation and churches. The tour includes visits to sites as such Elmina Castle, slave dungeons, nature trails, Kakum National Park and sites around Accra.
There will also be an opportunity to interact with students and faculty of Garden City University College, an international educational exchange partner of Siena Heights.
