'Drood' Opens Theatre Siena Season Oct. 8-10

British Murder Mystery Musical Has a Different Ending Every Night

Theatre Siena at Siena Heights University begins its 2009-10 season with British murder mystery “Drood.” The show runs from Oct. 8-10 in Francoeur Theater on the SHU campus. Curtain times are at 8 p.m. each evening.

A musical by Rupert Holmes and directed and choreographed by SHU Associate Professor of Theater Speech and Communications Kerry Graves, “Drood” is a rollicking romp of a British murder mystery performed in an 1890s music hall. Based on Charles Dickens’ final and unfinished novel, “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” the show is a comic thrill ride filled with audience interaction, glorious songs and dances, bawdy humor – and a different ending every night! Drood won both the Tony and Drama Desk awards for Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score and Best Orchestrations.

Tickets are $12 for general admission, $8 for students and members of the Siena community.

The rest of the 2009 Theatre Siena fall schedule includes “Buried Child,” Nov. 5-7, and student-directed one-act plays Nov. 18-21.
