Courses for this major are housed in both English and Theatre and Speech Communication with such courses as Ethnic Literature, Oral Interpretation of Children’s Literature, and Teaching Creative Drama. Also available are a Theatre Concentration or an Elementary Language Arts Minor for Teacher Certification. (For more information go to Teacher Education page.) An important element unique to Siena is our course in Teaching Creative Dramatics where students not only study methods and theory but spend the semester working with children in our Creative Stages afterschool drama program. This hands-on experience cannot be found in other undergraduate programs.
