Siena Heights University senior Laura Panozzo is the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 22.
Panozzo, from Berkley, Mich., moved within six rebounds for 1,000 in her career, which would be first all-time in school history. Currently Bevin Malley has Siena's all-time rebound mark with 999.
The 5-foot-10 forward is also 43 points away from becoming SHU's career women's scoring leader. Currently Sheila Landerschier has the record with 1,693 career points.
Panozzo averaged 22 points and 13 boards in a pair of wins for the Saints last week.
She posted back-to-back double-doubles with 30 points and 16 rebounds in a 80-66 win over Indiana Tech and 14 points and 10 boards in a road win over Madonna. Panozzo also added seven assists, six blocks and three assists in the two games.
Siena Heights is currently 14-7 overall, 4-2 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Saints host Aquinas College at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, then bring in Concordia University Jan. 29.
