"My teaching philosophy is grounded in the central idea that unsettling my students’ established beliefs and ideas and asking them to think differently and creatively can lead to startling discoveries that contribute to their development as members of a global community, and continue to transform their lives outside the boundaries of our classroom walls. I encourage new ways of thinking by exposing my students to a variety of interdisciplinary texts that offer diverse perspectives on what it means to be human, and I strive each day to provide my students with the tools of critical analysis they need not only to make smart decisions for themselves, but also to become informed and active citizens of their communities and the world."
