Siena Heights University’s Online Learning Program was ranked as the first in Michigan among all institutions by the U.S. News and World Report. SHU also was ranked nationally for the fourth consecutive year, finishing tied for 24th among all public and private institutions. SHU has offered online bachelor’s degree completion programs in selected majors since 2004.
U.S. News and World Report’s methodology included student engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer reputation and student services and technology to determine the rankings. The publication released its 2017 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs rankings Jan. 10.
“To be recognized as the best in Michigan is truly a remarkable achievement,” said SHU President Sister Peg Albert, OP, PhD. “We know our Online Learning Programs consistently deliver excellence and value to students. Siena Heights is extremely proud of this honor, and I would like to congratulate our faculty and staff on this prestigious ranking.”
“To be first in Michigan and 24th nationally continues to validate our commitment on quality, innovation and service,” said SHU Dean of the College for Professional Studies Dr. Cheryl Betz. “We were on the forefront of online education nationally, and have systematically invested in creating and maintaining an online program worthy of this recognition. Our national rankings, high satisfaction in student engagement and high retention rates are the result of the dedicated efforts given by our staff, faculty and administration.”
In 2016, Siena Heights’ Online Learning Program also had the nation’s second highest graduation rate among private institutions and was fifth overall in the U.S. News and World Report’s list of top 10 colleges or universities.
