The
Drawing Program begins with a foundations course in drawing concepts, which lays a strong foundation of accurate
observation, appropriate use of media, and a vocabulary for critical
thinking. Students learn to refine skills of representation and
interpretation and are introduced to a variety of traditional and
historical methods.
The
sequence of six advanced drawing courses explores a wide variety of techniques
and materials. Courses include both traditional and non-tradtional approaches. Students develop a broad range of skills
and competencies in drawing media and are encouraged to
develop personal, stylistic and conceptual approaches. Frequent critiques allow students to interact with each other and to develop critical thinking and vocabulary skills. More advanced students are provided with a dedicated work space. Studio experiences are supplemented by
slide lectures and videos.
