Online Program Again Earns National Ranking; Best in Michigan for Third Straight Year

For the third consecutive year, Siena Heights University’s undergraduate Online Learning Program was top-rated in Michigan among all institutions by the U.S. News and World Report.

Siena Heights also was ranked nationally for the sixth consecutive year by the magazine, and finished tied for 29th among all public and private institutions. In fact, Siena Heights is the second highest ranked Catholic institution and fifth highest ranked private college or university in the nation.

“To be recognized as the best in Michigan and in the top 30 nationally for three consecutive years is a remarkable achievement,” said SHU President Sister Peg Albert, OP, PhD. “We know our Online Learning Program consistently delivers excellence while remaining affordable to our students. I would like to congratulate our faculty and staff on this prestigious ranking.”

U.S. News and World Report’s methodology included student engagement, faculty credentials and training, peer reputation and student services and technology to determine the rankings. The publication released its 2019 Best Online Bachelor’s Programs rankings Jan. 15.

Siena Heights was also ranked first in student engagement, having the maximum score of 100 in the magazine’s methodology. SHU also had the top faculty credentials and training rank in the nation with a perfect 100 score, according to the publication.

“To be ranked as the leading online bachelor’s program in the state of Michigan serves as a reminder of our commitment to quality online instruction.” said SHU Dean of the College for Professional Studies Dr. Cheryl Betz. “Several colleges and universities are just now beginning to offer online coursework; Siena students have an advantage in the education marketplace and future workforce by taking courses from a national online leader.”

Siena Heights has offered online bachelor’s degree completion programs in selected majors since 2004.

“While national recognition is a wonderful accomplishment, we find just as much pride when our students graduate and fulfill their life goals,” Betz said. “Our faculty and staff are deeply invested in our students' success.”
