WHAT TYPES OF MBA PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY?
- MBA: Master in Business Administration.
- MBA: Health Administration Specialization.
DO STUDENTS HAVE TO CHOOSE A SPECIALIZATION
- MBA students may pursue a specialization, but are not required to do so.
- MBA students may elect to complete the regular MBA track courses and add the specialization courses.
CAN I SIT FOR THE CPA EXAM WITH AN MBA?
- To sit for the CPA examination, you will need 150 credit hours of education (your undergraduate and graduate degrees count towards this total).

WHY CHOOSE THE HEALTH ADMINISTRATION SPECIALIZATION?
- The Health Administration specialization is for students who want to be at the forefront in planning, directing, and coordinating the services offered in hospitals and health care facilities.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE GMAT OR GRE?
- No, neither the GMAT nor the GRE is required for admittance into the MBA program.
ARE THERE REQUIREMENTS FOR WORK EXPERIENCE
- No work experience is required to apply to the MBA program.
IF MY UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE IS NOT IN BUSINESS, CAN I STILL APPLY?
- You do not have to have an undergraduate degree in business to be accepted into the MBA program. Foundation courses (C or better) in Statistics, Finance, Economics and Accounting I and II are required. Leveling modules for these areas can be completed through a third party provider if you have not completed these courses. Contact your MBA advisor for details at graduateadmissions@sienaheights.edu.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE MY MBA DEGREE?
- Whether you pursue the MBA or the MBA with a specialization, your program will be 33 credits (11 classes). Students typically choose a 1 or 2 year track. All courses are delivered in an 8-week accelerated, online format.
CAN I COMPLETE MY DEGREE ONLINE?
- The MBA program is entirely online with some Zoom live meetings.
WHEN CAN I START?
- Students can start the MBA program during any session (Fall, Winter, Summer).

HOW DO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS APPLY?
- Prospective students should apply online through the SHU Graduate School at start.sienaheights.edu/mba or contact the MBA advisor at graduateadmissions@sienaheights.edu.
WHAT ARE THE CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION FOR THE MBA PROGRAM?
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (regular admission) on a 4.0 scale. GPA’s under 3.0 will be considered for conditional admission on an individual basis.
APPLICATION PROCESS
- Apply online at start.sienaheights.edu.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Personal Statement.
- Resume.
- Criminal conviction disclosure form.
WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DUE DATE?
- The MBA program admits students for Fall, Winter and Summer sessions. The priority application deadline is July 15 for Fall admission, November 15 for Winter admission, and March 15 for Summer admission. Applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed after the priority deadline on a space available basis.
HOW DOES A STUDENT KNOW WHAT COURSES TO TAKE?
- A program advisor will help students understand the MBA program and review the specialization options. Each student will receive a degree plan upon admission to the program that will outline the required courses the student will take each session.
- Students are also assigned a faculty mentor once accepted into the MBA program.
WILL STUDENTS BE REQUIRED TO TRAVEL TO SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY?
- No, students are not required to travel to SHU. The program is completely online.
WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PROGRAM?
- Students can find an estimated cost for the program by inquiring at start.sienaheights.edu/mba. Ask your program advisor about the Siena Tuition Advantage, which offers price certainty for students by holding our tuition costs steady over a 2-year academic period.
ARE SCHOLARSHIPS, LOANS AND FINANCIAL AID AVAILABLE?
- Financial aid is available. To determine eligibility, visit https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/ and fill out the FAFSA form.
HOW DOES THE ADVISEMENT PROCESS WORK?
- All students are assigned an advisor at the time a student inquires about the program. Your advisor will evaluate your application materials and provide a detailed degree plan upon acceptance. Your advisor will be available throughout your program to answer questions or provide assistance. Students are also assigned a faculty mentor upon acceptance. Advising is conducted by phone, in-person, or via Skype/Zoom.
IS THERE A NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION?
- There are no orientation requirements, but an online student orientation is available and it is recommended to new students to review it. Also, the MBA Program Director is available to students who wish to ask questions about the coursework or the Canvas Learning Management System.
CAN I WORK AND COMPLETE THE MBA PROGRAM?
- This program is designed to meet the educational needs of a busy, adult student.
IS THE PROGRAM NATIONALLY ACCREDITED?
- Siena Heights University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC) at 230 S. LaSalle Street, Suite 7-500, Chicago, Illinois, 60604-1441, hlcommission.org.

Health Care Administration
An MBA will increase your marketability in the workplace, a Health Administration specialization will laser focus those skills in the areas you need it the most. Siena Heights University’s specialized program prepares the next generation of health care leaders and achievers and is recommended for anyone wanting to climb the corporate ladder.
Health care employers today are looking for graduates with a combination of core business knowledge and skills coupled with a solid understanding of healthcare administration, current issues in health care, as well as medical law. Therefore, the health administration specialization courses will include:
- LDR 609 (Health Systems Management)
- LDR 614 (Contemporary Issues in Health Care Administration)
- LDR 650 (Medical Law)
Each specialization course will provide a unique business focus on the health care industry that will complement the core business courses offered in the MBA program.
