Summer 'Momentum' Course Application

Siena Heights University will offer free one-credit online engagement courses this summer as a low-risk option for those wanting to experience online learning.

“Building on the success of Siena's early Engage course program, we are committing resources this summer to ensure our incoming College of Arts and Sciences students are equipped to learn in a variety of environments,” said SHU Vice President of Academic Affairs Sister Sharon Weber.

The courses range on a variety of topics, and will run mid-July through late August. Courses are pass/fail, and will be designed help engage students in SHU’s online learning platform, Canvas.

Courses will include various activities and/or discussions that will help familiarize students with Canvas and online education at Siena. Students will not be required to purchase books or additional materials. Access to a computer and reliable internet access is needed.

“And if the student enrolls at Siena Heights in the fall semester, the one-hour credit will be credited to their transcript,” Weber said.

For the eighth consecutive year, SHU’s undergraduate Online Learning Program was ranked nationally by the U.S. News and World Report. And for the fifth consecutive year, Siena Heights was the top-rated in Michigan among all institutions. SHU was included in the Study.com list of the 50 best accredited schools that provide online degree programs, ranking 28th nationally.

Enrollment is limited, and courses will fill quickly. NOTE: Courses are limited to one per student.
